Name: Sage
Gender: Male
Race: Half-wolf
Age: Four winters (appears 19-21 years as human)
Alliance: Only to himself
Appearance:
As a wolf, Sage is a mixture of dark grey and white. His head, back and tail vary in grey shades. Under is chin and belly, his fur is lighter. His physique is long and gruff. He inherited his bold figure from his father, the late alpha-male of the Wind Dancers. His eyes are a bright yellow. But beneath their glow lies bitterness of his heart, the sadness of his soul, and the loneliness of his being.
As a human, Sage’s hair is a light grey like his fur. It’s shaggy, and despite any effort to tame it, it seems to fall back into its messy place. Sage keeps his yellow eyes as well: an odd color for any human. Even as a human, he stands out. His human physique is very tall, standing at about 6’1. His frame is broad, mimicking his bold wolven body.
Sage’s most predominant feature is thin, deep scar etched across his right eye. In either his wolf or human form, Sage’s scar stands out like a warning or a sign.

Personality:
Sage is a quiet man and wolf alike. He knows when to speak, and he knows when to remain silent. He's stubborn, sarcastic, rude, and hard-headed. He has a strong mind and heart, and fights for what he believes is right, even when the rest of the world is against him.
Sage has come to realize that he is an outcast, and treats others as such. He tends to avoid large crowds, and doesn’t trust anyone. His heart is truly cold, numb from the pain others try to give him. He’s used to “moving on” and being on his own.
Sage has an aura about him. Something about him makes it easy for wolves and people alike to shy away from him.
Strengths / Weaknesses:
Sage’s strength comes from his past. Despite it’s tragic tale, Sage has become strong. His will dominates his being.
Sage is only half-wolf, his other half being that of the dogs. His sense of smell is not as good as a pure wolf’s, nor his hearing as keen. but his brute strength is that of two full grown male wolves. His father was a strong wolf, and Sage has inherited that as well.
![[image]](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v252/Mandy822/newAnime3.jpg) History:
The forbidden love of the wolf and the dog could not be undone, for the damage was already conceived. In the womb of Jewel, the beautiful, white husky of a nearby village, grew the son of the Wind Dancer pack's alpha male, Shadow. No one knew of the secret engagement. Shadow himself did not know of the son that would be born of Jewel in a matter of months. Jewel hid the truth from him, knowing that if any of his pack found out, Shadow would be put to death alongside Jewel and the half-breed son. Despite their undying love, Jewel left Shadow for the sake of life itself.
And so, Sage was born. Even on the day of his birth, any who saw him knew something was different. He looked nothing like his husky mother. Sage’s body was a deep grey and white, a mix from his mother and his father. His eyes shone with a bright yellow hue; the color of his father’s that even he did not know. One year passed by peacefully. Sage lived among humans, although they seemed wary of him. Humans knew what he was.
Secrets such as the one of Sage are not meant to be hidden forever. One morning, the chill of winter cascaded over the land, and a biting wind blew through the valleys. Shadow and the pack of Wind Dancers were roaming the prairie alongside Jewel and Sage’s village. Shadow caught the distinct scent of Jewel: it had to be her, he could not mistake her fragrance. In the dead of night, Shadow left his pack to seek her out. And find her, he did, along with the son that he had no knowledge of.
“This is why you left so suddenly?” Shadow asked angrily.
“I had no choice, please understand. If anyone found out... i just didn’t want to lose you. I still don’t,” Jewel pleaded.
“No one will know, i promise,” Shadow counseled, he could not stay angry with her. “We will leave this place, together. Just like it should have been last year,”
“I'm so scared,”
“Don't be, my love.” They embraced. Sage watched from the corner. The realization of what he was would soon come.
It was at that moment they were discovered. Valdis, the beta male of the Wind Dancers, discovered the absence of their alpha. He and many of their pack searched through the night only to discover Shadow's deadly secret: his love for a husky, a dog. Fighting erupted, and though his strength was great, Shadow could not protect Jewel or himself against the mighty brutes of his pack.
The battle would soon be over as Sage watched in horror. There was nothing he could do. He wasn't strong enough, not yet. He cursed himself for his lack of strength. It was this night that made him who he is today.
Afraid, and huddled against the wall, Sage stared up at the wolf that had brutally murdered his mother and his father that he had just met. Valdis hovared over him like a shadow. Hatred and malice blurred Sage's vision.
Valdis spoke, “I will not kill you here, for you shall live to pay for your father’s sins. Know that you will never be anything but a lowly half-breed dog. No clan will accept you, no wolf will love you, no dog will trust you. You have no place in this world.” And with that, he raised his paw and lashed out at Sage. Blood trickled into Sage's eyes, and Valdis spoke for the last time, “Now all will know you. May your scar forever remind you that you are an outcast.”
Valdis turned to leave, the rest of the pack members followed, leaving Sage to die or to live if he wished.
Witnessing the death of the mother who cared for him and the father he had never known at the hands of his own kind -at least one half of him- made him sick with grief. The pain in his eye barely fazed him. Once he lost sight of Valdis and the other wolves, he ran blindly through the parries and into a forest, where he collapsed in exhaustion.
A few hours later, Sage awoke in surrounds very foreign to him. Had not his memory come back suddenly, he would have been scared to death. What was he to do? He was barely out of pup-hood, an orphan, and on top of everything, he had no home, no world, and no kin to seek out, for Sage was kin to two completely opposite races. He would neither be accepted by the domestic dogs of his heritage, nor his wolven kin. Valdis was right. Where would he go?
Sage was forced to grow up. Acting on pure instinct, he hunted for himself, fought for himself, and he survived by himself. The murders still burned in his memory, fueling the fire of strength that burned and charred within his very soul. Sage became a strong, a wise, a determined, and most of all, a prideful wolf. He vowed revenge upon the wolf Valdis for the murder of his family.
A year ago, Sage learned that the Wind Dancer pack had fallen after the death of their great alpha male. The pack’s name now resided only in the memories of those who knew of it. Sage’s revenge had been robbed of him. He would never be able to redeem his father.
Sage moved on...
He would more even still. Not just the ancient Wind Dancer pack had fallen. Many of the packs scattered throughout the land were being torn apart by hunters and the like. Humans were wiping out his kind. He was told by a kinder wolf (compared to most of the ones he met) that the remaining wolves would have to live among the humans if they wanted to live.
But even as a human, Sage stood out. What was this aura about him that made people shy the other way?
Sage's heart couldn't help but turn cold toward all the wolves, and even all the humans. Bitterness enveloped his soul as the worlds of Valdis echoed in his mind:
‘may your scar forever remind you that you are an outcast…”

Though much is taken, much abides; And though we are not now that Strength, which in old days moved Earth and Heaven, That which we are, we are -- One equal temper of Heroic Hearts, Made weak by Time and Fate, but strong in Will: to Strive, to Seek, to Find, and not to Yield. |
